Liturgical music enhances the quality of our parish worship. As part of our religious rites, liturgical music includes a number of traditions, both ancient and modern. St Gabriel's ceremonial music follows the guidelines of the document Sacrosanctum Concilium of the Second Vatican Council.
The various expressions employed are traditional and contemporary polyphonic music with instrumental accompaniment suited to our parish membership. Our music groups are comprised of our:
Traditional Adult Choir
Trinity Adult Choir
Youth Choir
Contemporary Ensemble.
The Traditional Choir sings at the 8:30 am Massand at special holiday Masses.
Repertoire includes traditional church hymns.
Membership is open to any adult who enjoys singing.
Rehearsal are Thursday afternoons at 5 PM
Trinity Choir sings at the 11 am Mass on the third Sunday of each month and a special holiday Masses.
Repertoire is slightly more contemporary than the Traditional Choir.
Membership is open to any adult who enjoys singing.
The Youth Choir sings at the 11 am Mass on the first Sunday of each month and at special holiday Masses.
Membership is open to children in Grades 2-8 in public school as well as children at St. Gabriel School who enjoy singing.
Rehearsals are on Thursdays at 3 pm at St. Gabriel School.
Members also participate in many special activities throughout the school year including Christmas and Easter..
